I'm Baack
Job done, project over, that's 3-1/2 to 4 years of my life invested into the project
End result, after 3-1/2 weeks of shutdown we restarted the Crude Distillation Unit we were working on and within 2 days we had it running smoothly and well above spec. At an idle it was throughputting 10000 barrels per day.
Previous maximum throughput was 8500 barrels a day - new maximum 13000 barrels a day.
The refinery we were working on is New Zealands only refinery (no pressure - much) we only shut down the unit twice (a 2 week shut in Feb, and a 3-1/2 week shut Sep/Oct), both times starting up flawlessly, and at the end of the project had renewed most of the equipment in the unit (pumps, exchangers, towers, pipe sizes) using the same area as the previous equipment (actually a little less).
Not a big project by world standards ($180M) but a logistic nightmare (same plot, bigger throughput, minimal shuts).
And the icing on the cake is that the product is now a much higher standard.
I get a week off now (I want to save the rest of my leave for Christmas), but I will be back on the forum like usual
